Iowa State University Extension, in cooperation with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be hosting a statewide re-show of the 2009 Commercial Manure Applicator training program on August 19, 2009 from 9 a.m. to noon. This web- cast program will be the same training program that was offered in January 2009 and the training will meet the 3 hour re- quirement for the 2009 manure certification program. If you have already met your training requirements for 2009, there is no need to attend.

The goal of hosting this summer training session is to meet applicators’ need to meet certification requirements prior to the busy fall land application season and to better organize training opportunities at the County Extension office. Our records indicate there are approximately 700 commercial manure applicators that still need to attend training in 2009 prior to any manure removal or application activities.

A postcard reminder will be sent in late July to all currently certified commercial applicator businesses. Business owners/ manager, please share this information with your employees. Please register for this workshop by August 14 by calling the county extension office where you plan to attend this training. If you are not able to attend this workshop, you can still make arrangements with your County Extension office to schedule time to view the training video on a different date, or you may contact your regional DNR field office to schedule an appointment to take the exam. A complete list of county extension offices hosting this workshop will be available in mid-July on the Manure Applicator Certification Web page at: http://www.agronext.iastate.edu/immag/mac.html.
